Chris Wolff

Deputy Director, Country Partnerships

Chris Wolff provides management and strategic direction for collaboration between the foundation, our implementation partners, global health funds (including Gavi, the Global Financing Facility, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria), and country governments. His group focuses in particular on helping to improve routine immunization in areas of high polio risk in 10 countries.

Chris was previously a deputy director of the foundation’s Vaccine Delivery team, where he focused on scaling up successful immunization system practices, policies, and products.

Before joining the foundation in 2014, Chris worked for the World Health Organization for nearly 15 years, primarily on polio eradication and immunization. His roles there included managing the team that provided support to countries responding to polio outbreaks, overseeing one of WHO’s largest global disease surveillance and data networks (reporting more than 100,000 suspect polio cases per year from over 182 countries), providing technical advice and support to dozens of countries on strategies to complete eradication, and working on global policy development related to vaccine strategies and management of post-eradication risks. He worked with more than 75 countries in all WHO regions.

Earlier, Chris worked as a fellow at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on tuberculosis monitoring and evaluation systems in Central Asia. He also spent some years teaching biology in the Czech Republic and doing field research in Malawi with Habitat for Humanity.

Chris holds a B.S. in biology from Wake Forest University and an M.P.H. from the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health.
