Laura Birx

Deputy Director, Strategy, Planning and Management, Agricultural Development

Laura Birx oversees the program’s strategy and operations functions and manages cross-cutting portfolios, including women’s empowerment, nutritious food systems, and monitoring and evaluation. She joined the foundation in 2015 and had prior roles on the Agricultural Development team as an advisor to the director and as a senior program officer for agriculture-nutrition.

Previously, Laura worked for seven years at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), managing global nutrition programs and developing the nutrition strategy under the U.S. president’s Feed the Future initiative and Global Health Initiative. While at USAID, she lived and worked in Tanzania.

Laura holds a Master of Public Health from George Washington University and a B.A. from Colby College.
