Sofia Michelakis

Sofia Michelakis leads the Giving Pledge, an effort to engage the world’s wealthiest people in a commitment to give the majority of their wealth to philanthropy and help create a new set of norms around and giving. To date, more than 200 individuals and couples from over 20 countries have signed the Giving Pledge.

Sofia works closely with Pledgers, their families, and their staff and manages the team that supports the Giving Pledge community. She is inspired by those who apply their resources to improving lives and helping the planet, particularly in ways they had not previously considered.

Before joining the foundation in 2013, Sofia was director of philanthropy development at Social Venture Partners Seattle and earlier practiced corporate law. She has a J.D. from the University of Michigan and a B.A. from Stanford University. She serves on the board of directors, and is past board president, of Social Venture Partners International, a global community of donors committed to shared values of collective giving and accountability and connection to frontline leaders.
